I would like to make a statement in support of the importance of maitaining a high measure of freedom on the internet. This of course should be moderated by acceptable social norms of the day.
President Obama is committed to creating the most open and accessible Administration in history. That begins with taking comments and questions from you, the American people, through our website.
What are the Australian Government's plans to censor the internet (the so-called "Clean Feed")
Clean Feed is a content filtration system used in the UK and Canada (where it's voluntary) that is being proposed by the Australian Government to force Internet Service Providers to censor the Internet for all Australian users. It is in the form of some sort of filter in relation to child sexual abuse material; children accessing inappropriate material. There are also plans to provide a list of banned child abuse material.
Communications Minister Stephen Conroy's portfolio is responsible for this.

What place does censorship have in a democracy?
Freedom of speech is an integral part of keeping democracy 'honest'. I believe though that Freedom of speech and censorship are two totally different things.
As little censorship as possible is the hallmark of a free, open and mature democracy. Freedom of choice should always be paramount though guidance through ratings is always helpful. Access to information though should always be free and not hindered.
But when is information not socially acceptable information. There are certain things such as those regarding child pornography and violent and anti-social messages, which each society should decide, using a wide-ranging representation of it's culture, what it defines is socially acceptable behaviour at that particular time. These rights of society must be safe-guarded for it's citizens. It is also important that these are re-visited on a regular basis for review.
When will the NBN get to your place? What are the Benefits?
There is no specific date for when the NBN is to reach the Gold Coast.
It's claimed that NBN will provide high speed broadband to 93% of Australia's premises.
This is what is claimed:

Italian Parents Take Legal Action To Evict Adult Son
Call it an Italian version of “failure to launch” syndrome – a couple in Venice has had enough from their 41-year-old son, who refuses to move out for their house. They are seeking legal help to persuade him to get out, according to BBC News.
“We cannot do it anymore,” the man’s father was quoted as saying, his attorney Andrea Camp told the BBC. “He demands that his clothes be washed and ironed and his meals prepared. He really has no intention of leaving.”
For help, the unnamed Italian turned to Adico, a consumer association that has worked with similar cases. Earlier this month, the company persuaded another son to leave home. After he left, his parents changed the locks on the house.
It is not uncommon in Italy for grown children to continue living with their parents, especially during difficult economic times. But this couple say that’s not the case with their son, who they say has a high-paying job that could afford him independence. He simply refuses to leave the nest.
“My wife is suffering from stress and has to be hospitalized,” the father told the BBC. “[My son] has a good job but still lives at home.”
The son has received a letter informing him that he has six days to leave the house before his parents take further legal action. If he refuses, the lawyers will seek the equivalent of a restraining order against him for his parents.
It looks like this Italian “bamboccioni,” or “big baby,” will soon be paging through the classifieds for a new place to stay

http://www.nbn.gov.au/for-households/why-is-it-important/
"households benefit from access to new online services and information and from the connection to the social community’.
Allen Consulting estimates that if the number of Australian households connected to the internet increased by 10 per centage points, these households would gain $2.4 billion a year in current prices (in terms of the change in the value of consumption that they are expected to obtain) through timesaving activities, including:
- teleworking, online shopping, remote work and study opportunities
- information gathering and accessing services
- price/product discovery
- education and knowledge
- access to social networking
- media, entertainment and professional services
- substitution of physical services to services delivered electronically
- inclusion and engagement in the online community.
In addition to benefits to households, a 10 per cent point increase in Australians using the internet is estimated to produce an increase of 0.44 per cent to Australia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
There are also indirect benefits to other sectors as a result of increased household connectivity:
- for businesses, the reduction in the costs of customer access and client servicing
- for government, improved public sector efficiencies and the returns from greater economic activity
- for community organisations, increased engagement/participation with community groups."
