Reporting progress in producing a video that can be embedded on my blog:
Week 2:
Development Process
The full team finally met in todays tutorial. Crystal, who was not present at our initial pre-production meeting, was filled in on ideas and developments to date.
The week before, I had worked on the notes that I had made of our preliminary discussion in the tutorial and developed a story line for our project. I had emailed the Story Board of our ideas to Tara for her input. The complete Story Board can be viewed at the end of this blog.
I was to email it to Crystal as soon as possible for her information.
Allocation of Tasks
As I had already researched and collated the data for each continent's internet usage comparing 2000 to 2011, we decided the next steps were as follows:
Tara - produce a Facebook page for our imaginary group, Information Fighters - IF - to see how many followers we would be able to attract and whether it would make any impact in a short time.
Crystal - a) create a logo for IF.
b) find the music for our piece.
Ibolya - a) images for use with the statistics for each continent.
Completed Tasks
The Facebook page was created as a Community page and to meet the concerns of our imaginary group, IF, we ensured that the appropriate Terms of Use were read before we agreed to them.
The music was selected and downloaded.
Problems
I had tried to access images and videos which were free to use under copyright regulations by using Creative Commons. This website is a kind of search engine for images that have various levels of use allowed by their producers. The basic level requires that all these images be available for use as long as they are attributed in your production.
I had difficulty accessing images through Creative Commons, so had been searching for Free Images using Flickr and Bing. I told the tutor of this and quite some time was spent with me trying to solve this problem.
We were still feeling quite disorganised and really had no idea how we were going to produce this. Crystal advised us that she had a piece of software available that she would be able to use to pull all our images, data and music together.
Where will we be by next week ? Good question..........
